Welcome to Team Frontier, our last full feature stop from The Wedding Crasher's Tour 2016, presented by Richmond Weddings! With three very distinct event venues on the tour this year, we rounded it out at the Frontier Project with an industrial design vision coordinated by Tart Event Co and captured by the talented Stephanie Yonce Photography. Their event vision included an "organic twist on the industrial design with soft touches of fluffy blush with bright pops of yellow bringing to life a neutral palette." They were inspired by "viney and organic florals that would bring an elegant shape to their structural back drop with industrial textures incorporated to echo the Scott's Addition neighborhood and venue vibes."
It is no easy task to transform a space so new to the wedding industry in particular and with such unique bones but this design duo not only re-purposed The Frontier Project bringing their complete vision to life but gave our attendees a perfect blend of soft and structural.
The Frontier Project founded in, and based out of, Richmond, Virginia — with footprints in Dallas, NYC, and LA — is a leading boutique consulting firm that provides tactical support to companies that are transforming their organizations, innovating new products and services, and influencing global markets.
"Named to the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing companies two years in a row, our building’s vibrant atmosphere is unlike any you’ll find in Richmond. Once used by East Coast Freight Lines for loading docks and truck repair, the 1940s warehouse retains much of its original character, including exposed brick walls, soaring ceilings, working garage doors, and industrial cement floors, while offering every modern-day amenity a workspace could possibly need."
After being welcomed in by the team and Bill Gilliam of CHOICE Entertainment, guests were able to absorb innovative design details and inspiration. The floral design by Rhea of Photosynthesis was spectacular and added just enough greenery as it crept up the brick backdrop wall of their ceremony scene. Wood church pews helped fill the space as guests took their place for introductions of the team.
Interesting and out of the box design elements were used as reception centerpieces where it was possible to see first hand the coupling of unlikely pieces including cinder blocks, florals and candles.
Playing off the structural theme and perfecting the color scheme and vibe was Tour sponsor and Stationery Designer Sue Corral Ink with the custom invitation suite, menu cards and signage.
Lounge areas were created to diversify the room as well as to soften the mingling areas with the addition of Frontier and Paisley & Jade area and accent rugs.
The final of their three #ispypandj pieces was the 8’ Wooden Truss, which is one of the newest additions to their collection! Available in 8’, 16’ or 24’ lengths, the Wooden Truss fits perfectly over a single 8’ table or multiple 8’ tables pushed together to create an impressive visual for guests dining areas or culinary stations!! It can also be used as a stand alone piece to create impressive backdrops for ceremonies or photo booths.
Morgan, co-owner adds, "Tart Event Co did an amazing job using this piece to frame the Mac & Cheese station, creating a delicious and visually appealing stop for tour guests!!"
For refreshments and sweets, guests were able to sample Butler's Unique Catering, the dessert bar of decadent Gearhart's Fine Chocolates and Lushy Slushy drinks before heading back on the bus.
As always we are in love with these captures by Stephanie Yonce Photography. If you missed her on the tour or are tuning in now to the Wedding Crasher's Tour recap, you'll want to visit more of her work online and in Richmond Bride Magazine, Southern Living Magazine and Style Me Pretty. She was also just recently voted as Best of Borrowed & Blue for wedding photography!
